Guangdong Music & Folk Art Troupe was founded in 1958 and is a professional art troupe specializing in composing, performing and studying on Guangdong music and Guangdong folk art.. It is a national intangible cultural heritage protection unit of Guangdong music and Cantonese opera.

 

The Troupe has gathered a good number of skillful and experienced concert performers and ballad singers who have obtained a world-wide reputation at home and abroad. With the purpose of inhertiting, innovating and developing, the troupe has explored, adapted and created a large number of excellent Guangdong music and folk art works for long time, which got great achievements and won many awards in various national, provincial and municipal contests. It has won the “Wenhua new program award” and “Wenhua performance award” which issued by the National Ministry of culture and won the highest award of China folk art “Peony Award” for many times. In the long-term artistic practice, the troupe has formed an artistic style with strong local flavor, and established its own brand concert and repertoire and also has recorded and published a large number of audio-visual products and Guangdong music and folk art works, which are widely spread and sold at home and abroad.
