    Act Introduction of Pingtan Impression

    Act I: Island of Fairyland
Pingtan Island, a happy land long blessed by Mazu, the goddess of the sea, is honored as Land of Kylin (Chinese unicorn, symbol of power, wisdom and good fortune ). For thousands of years, with its pleasant climate and beautiful scenery, it is like a fairyland free of disasters and sufferings.
Legend has it that one day in the ancient times, a prince on an auspicious flying dragon randomly landed on this island. Attracted by the vitality and charm here, no longer did he want to leave and then he became the forefather of the island. Everyday the prince danced with the flying dragon beside the sea and enjoyed a lot. When he felt sleepy, the dragon would tenderly wind around him, allowing him to comfortably lean on it, and soon he fell asleep.

    Act II: Life in Fairyland
One day, the prince had a nightmare in which the rumbling thunder and dazzling lightning hit the sea. In heavy downpour and breaking waves a boat full of demons sailed towards him. Then appeared the nine-tailed fox, heavenly hound, Hannya, a large of murder of crows, etc. Apparently those scary demons wanted to occupy the beautiful island and turn it into theirs.

After the nightmare, the prince met a beautiful girl named Pintan Blue. She was said to be the daughter of the sea and was adopted and raised by Kylin. Soon after they met, they fell in love with each other and happy stories started afterwards.

    Act III: Foreign Invasion
Blessed with peace and prosperity, people on the island lived a simple life, tranquil but fulfilled.

Then peace of their life was suddenly broken by the coming of typhoon. When the islanders jointly fought against the typhoon under the leadership of the prince and his wife, Mazu appeared and exerted her power. Then the sun amazingly cast its golden rays upon the earth and the disaster miraculously stopped. Knowing their homeland saved, people felt overjoyed and lit a lot of flying lanterns to celebrate it. But right at this moment, the foreign enemies came and attacked them, and the prince’s nightmare became true! After rounds of life and death battles, the war was still not settled. Unfortunately, in order to save the prince, his wife, Pingtan Blue, was injured in chaos.

    Act IV: Peace and Prosperity
At this juncture, Mazu, the goddess of the sea, came here and made her power felt again. With her divine halos dispelling the darkness, foreign enemies correspondingly repented their sins and evils. Then from the sky came great rumblings, and just like Noah's ark, a giant shining boat gradually landed on the island where the prince was on the bow with his wife, Pingtan Blue.

With grateful singing everywhere on the island, people paraded joyfully behind Mazu, piously praying for peace and prosperity and wishing for a better life ahead.
